Dartford Centralised Event - March 25th 2001

The 1st Centralised competition of 2001 was held at Dartford on March 25th

Only 4 teams turned up because of a combination of the cold, wet and windy conditions plus the ongoing "Foot and Mouth" problem.

The first races were flown as two ups as an "easy way in" but the rest of the heats were held as three up races.

The racing demonstrated quite clearly that the pilots were well out of practice after the winter lay-off and they were finding the going hard.

Barker/Tompkins were very lucky when Chris lost sight of the model and the resulting contact with the ground managed to just break the prop and U/C gear. This was possibly caused by aggressive flying by the other pilots in the race.

Most teams were finding it necessary to reduce cooling as a result of the conditions and range was proving a universal problem on the day.

No final was held due to the lack of teams present and also lack of interest in participating in a final.

Dave Rudd ran the competition with help from Dave Fry.
